1.5 Lakhs runs in ODI history
Monday, October 5, 2009
We are not talking about Sachin Tendulkar’s career runs or any prediction about his runs but the fact is Pakistan is going to complete 1, 50, 000 runs in its ODI history. When Pakistan will play against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy league match at Centurion on Wednesday Younis Khan team will have to score only 34 runs to complete 1.5 Lakhs runs in ODI cricket. How ever India has most hundred so far. Indian batsmen scored 163 hundred (thanks to Sachin Tendulkar’s 44 centuries) while Australia has 146 and Pakistan scored 142 hundreds. Only West Indies is the other team who scored hundreds of hundred by hitting 130 centuries. Sri Lanka is nearing for 100th as they have 99 centuries so far. My friend from Mumbai Marcus Couto suggest to add some detail about this feat here posting Pakistan's performance against all teams .
Thus Pakistan will become 3rd team after Australia (1, 57, 016 runs in 713 innings of 717 matches) and India (1, 53, 658 in 713 innings of 720 matches) to do so. In fact Pakistan was the 2nd team (after Australia) to reach 1, 00, 000 runs but in recent time India overtook them by reaching 1.5 lakhs runs.
So far Pakistan has scored 1, 49, 934 runs in 704 ODIs at an average of 30.24. Australia’s average is 33.62 and India stood second with 31.60 runs per wicket.
