Deccan Chargers: Unlucky at home
Thursday, October 15, 2009
With loss against Trinidad & Tobago at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on Wednesday Deccan Chargers have lost all the 9 matches they played at home in the T20. They lost all the matches of the IPL 2008 at home and now lost two matches in the ongoing Champions League T20.
Normally the team performs well at home with all the suitable conditions favoring the home players but here we can say all the Deccan Chargers’ players are not from Hyderabad, this may be the reason which favors Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Scott Styris, Fidel Edwards or for that matter Rohit Sharma )Mumbai, RP Singh (Uttar Pradesh).
However Hyderabad is the only team who never won a match at home in T20 or T20 Internationals.
One can compare Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Canada, Kenya and some other minnows with Hyderabad so far One Day International is concern. Zimbabwe has won only 26.23% of ODIs played at home while lost 69.57%. They played 122 ODIs at home with 32-win and 85-loss record while Bangladesh has won 29.49% matches at home (23-win, 54-loss of the 78 played at home).
Other teams at home:
Team, match, won, lost, Win%
UAE, 2, 0, 2, 0.00%
Scotland 14, 3, 9, 21.43%
Canada, 13, 3, 9, 23.08%
Kenya, 48, 19, 29, 39.58%
In test matches Bangladesh has played 29 matches at home and won only ONE while lost 24 but most notable entry in this list is New Zealand. The Kiwis has won 23.98% test at home. They have played 171 test matches at home with only 41 won and 56 lost.
