Fastest Fifties and 100 Partnerships in T20
Wednesday, October 21, 2009
New South Wales and Trinidad & Tobago match of the Champions League witnessed two records on Friday. Phil Hughes and David Warner added 121 runs for the first wicket and Kieron Pollard smashed half century off only 18 balls.
100 runs partnership is very rare in this form of cricket as the batsmen have little chance to set on the wicket of have not too much time to add 100 runs with any partner.
But the fact is this was the 75th partnership of over 100 runs for the first wicket in T20 cricket. The best of all is 175 runs between Vikram Solanki and Graeme Hick for Worcestershire Vs Northamptonshire at Kidderminster on 29 June 2007. There are 7 partnership of over 150 runs in T20 cricket.
Kieron Pollard has hit his half century off only 18 balls but still it is not the world record. He is at No. 11 in the list of fastest half century in T20. India’s Yuvraj Singh is on top of the list with the fifty off only 12 balls, thanks to six sixes off Stuart Broad, against England at Durban on 19 September 2007.
Here is the list of fastest fifties in T20.
