India won by 99 runs against Australia on Wednesday at Nagpur. Dhoni scored highest run in an innings as captain against Oz, India posted highest total in an ODI vs Australia, India posted its 350th victory in ODI and so many others records noticed but another feat achieved by India captain MS Dhoni and that he completed 2000 runs in Day Night matches.
During his innings of 12 runs when Dhoni reached 65 he completed 2000 runs in Day night ODI while representing India however he completed 2000 runs in overall Day Night career well before this match as he also played for Asian Xi against African XI. Thus he became only 7th Indian batsmen to do so. As ever Sachin Tendulkar is on top with 7407 runs in 179 match played under the flood Light. There are 13 Indians who have scored 1000 or more runs in Day Night matches and 7 of them scored 2000 or more. However only Sachin crossed 5000-mark while Rahul Dravid stood second with 4767 runs in 144 matches and 134 innings.
Nagpur encounter was Dhoni’s 72nd ODI under the lights for India and so far he has scored 2059 runs in 62 innings @44.76 with TWO hundreds and 15 half centuries.
There are 152 players have reached 2000 run-mark in the history and only 47 of them are able to do it in Day Night affairs.
