Harbhajan : Most ODI for 1000 runs

Harbhajan Singh’s heroics went in vain in Vadodara but during his innings of 49 off 31 balls he completed 1000 runs in his 11 years long ODI career and he had taken 196 matches to do so. The longest period for any one to complete 1000 runs in the history of ODI. Australia’s former leg spinner Shane Warne holds the record till Vadodara match as he had done it in 191 One Day Internationals.
There are 10 batsmen in the history who have taken 100 or more matches to reach 1000 run mark, mostly bowlers, but most notable name in this list is Nayan Mongia. Former India stumper Mongia took 113 matches to reach four figure mark in the career. When he completes it on 31 October 1998, the year Harbhajan Singh began his ODI career. Former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy also took 110 matches to do so.
Pakistan all rounder Wasim Akram and wicketkeeper Rashid Latif also figures in the following list.
