India beat South Africa by 1 run in the first One-Day International at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur on Sunday. South African captain Jacques Kallis won the toss and decided to bowl first, . In reply South Africa got off to an aggressive start with openers Loots Bosman (29) and Herschelle Gibbs (27) putting up 58 runs in 8.4 overs before Praveen Kumar clean bowled Bosman. After losing openers in quick succession, all the middle-order batsmen failed to give stand-in captain Jacques Kallis (89) any substantial support as Proteas lost wickets in regular intervals.Wayne Parnell (49 off 47 deliveries) and Dale Steyn (35 from 19) pushed India to the brink with a 65-run stand for the ninth wicket in just over six overs, but the visitors eventually fell narrowly short.Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers with figures of two for 29 from his allotted ten overs.
