ICC Champions Trophy 2004: Cricket's coming home

The 2004 tournament came to England for the first time, with the same format as 2002 - and amended rain rules.

The United States were the surprise qualifiers alongside Kenya, giving players such as Richard Staple and Steve Massiah a brief spell on the international stage.

Once more, there were few shocks in the group stages as the US were trounced by 210 runs by New Zealand and by nine wickets by Australia - while Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Kenya soon went home.

While some games struggled to attract large crowds, Pakistan edged out India in a sell-out at Edgbaston, while Andrew Flintoff smashed 104 to see England through to the last four at the expense of Sri Lanka under Duckworth/Lewis rules.
